What is a freestanding bedhead?

A freestanding bedhead is one that stands alone, resting on the floor between an ensemble bed and the wall.

What sort of beds is it suitable for?

Freestanding bedheads are designed for use with all ensemble beds. Ensemble beds are beds that comprise a mattress placed on top of a matching bed base. Ensemble beds do not have any supporting structures such as frames or slats.

Y
es, depending on your type of bed, Buffer Zone may be able to make bedhead panels to retro-fit to your existing bedhead on your slatted/framed bed.

What is a ‘fully upholstered’ bedhead?

A ‘fully upholstered’ bedhead is one which is completely covered by upholstery fabric around all sides, usually over one or several layers of padding. Most of Buffer Zone’s bedheads are fully upholstered

Will the bedhead fall over?

When placed between the ensemble bed and wall, the bedhead rests securely wedged and will not fall over. It is the ensemble bed which keeps the bedhead in its place. Obviously if the bed is removed or pulled back, then care should be taken to support the bedhead and prevent it from falling forward, especially if there are little children in the house.

Can the bedhead be attached to the wall?

Although designed to be freestanding, some people still choose to attach the bedhead to the wall. The bedhead may either be lifted off the floor (hung), or supported in a standing position (secured). Please note that Buffer Zone does not recommend attachment to the wall, and the Buffer Zone warranty becomes void if the bedhead is attached to the wall.

The bedheads are a substantial and potentially heavy piece of furniture. For safety reasons and to avoid permanent damage to your walls, Buffer Zone strongly recommends seeking the advice of a building professional before contemplating the attachment of a bedhead to any wall.

My bedroom has a slippery floor. Does this have any affect on a free standing bedhead ?

No. Because the Buffer Zone bedhead stands on its own feet, leaning against the wall, it should not put any more forward pressure on your bed than you already have. If you find that your bed slips away from the wall before you have purchased a bedhead, expect the same amount of movement (but not more) after you have installed your bedhead.

There are a number of devices available through bed retailers that inhibit the castors on the ensemble bed from rolling. Use of these will refrain the bed from rolling and therefore the bedhead will remain securely wedged between the bed and wall.

The time required for delivery of international orders is dependent on your location and mode of freight.  Details regarding freight of international orders will be discussed with you prior to you placing your order.

What do I do when it arrives?

When your bedhead arrives, simply unwrap it, remove the warranty card from the back of the product and put it away in a safe place. Next pull your ensemble bed out about 30cm (1 foot) from the wall. Place the bedhead between the bed and the wall, leaning it against the wall. As the back of the bedhead is fabric covered, it will not damage your wall. Push your bed back against the bedhead. This will wedge it into place. It’s that simple!

How do I clean the bedhead?

Because they are fully upholstered with commercial quality upholstery fabric, all Buffer Zone bedheads will stand up to reasonable wear. Clean frequently on a low suction setting of a vacuum cleaner, using an appropriate attachment. If cleaning is required, use only professional cleaners. The same companies which come to your home to clean your upholstered lounge suites, can clean your bedhead. Although Buffer Zone does not recommend using domestic spot cleaners (any such use will void the warranty), we suggest if you do insist on doing this, you always test a small patch which is out of sight, before attempting to clean any visible stains.

If I purchase a bedhead, is it covered by a warranty?

All Buffer Zone bedheads are covered by a limited warranty. Quality of materials and workmanship is covered by the warranty for a period of 12 months from time of delivery.

If there is a problem with your bedhead, you must first contact Buffer Zone in writing, by email or post. Please see the Contact Us page for address details. Buffer Zone will contact you and after discussion, if Buffer Zone accepts the warranty claim, you will be issued a Warranty Acceptance Number. Only bedheads accompanied by this number will be accepted by Buffer Zone for repair. It is the customer’s responsibility and cost to return the bedhead to and retrieve the bedhead from Buffer Zone in Sydney Australia, as well as to pay for any transit insurance that may be required.

Please note that many fabrics have natural imperfections as part of their overall appearance. This does not constitute a fault. All fabrics will fade if directly exposed to sunlight, so avoid direct sun. Fading is not covered by the warranty. All fabrics will deteriorate with extended exposure to rubbing. Rubbing is not covered by the warranty.
